Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American singer and musician who hails from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first EP, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released through Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut studio album came out on May 7th 2019. Ari Lennox released her music to the internet in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self release single Bound. In July of 2015, she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time, wanted to have her create Rihanna references. On the 8th of December, it was confirmed that she had been contracted to Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II on the track Backseat with Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut album on October 21, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018 she went on to appear on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018. A music video later released in September. Then on November 9, she released two additional singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then, on November 13, she released two additional singles titled The No One as well as Pdigree. She then appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single in February, 2019, for her debut album the same title. A music video debuted 20 February 2019 in order in conjunction with the song. Within the first period of a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. In December 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
